Will Security Camera Video Surveillance be in Our Homes Next?

Security Camera Video Surveillance and the Creep of Big Brother; Government is Watching us to Destroy Privacy.

Security camera video surveillance is all around us and is growing fast.

The rate of growth is accelerating and the number of areas of our lives which are affected by this is also growing.

Whenever we go out of our homes, whether by car or by foot, we are probably being filmed by one of the huge network of cameras.

This network of cameras is made up of state surveillance cameras including traffic cameras and CCTV cameras in cities, as well as private cameras.

The private cameras include shops, banks, ATM machines, gas stations and malls.

This technology is there to protect us and to make us safe. At least this is the public perception of the technology.

However, we must ask ourselves if there is an ulterior motive in this massive surveillance by agents of the state.

Most large cities these days track people using face recognition technology.

This means that a person can be followed around their daily business in the city centre automatically, using the face recognition software.

This information is being held in databases controlled by the government for future use.

Many liberty campaigners are extremely concerned that this is part of the totalitarian tiptoe which aims to monitor, record and track every single element of our daily lives.

Some liberty campaigners believe that this monitoring and tracking is going to be used in future for nefarious purposes.

Are We Being Conditioned?

Do We Have a Choice?

Security camera video surveillance, they believe, is part of a conditioning system to make us compliant with the laws of the government no matter what they are.

London has approximately 4,000,000 surveillance cameras which monitor a population of less than 10 million.

The average person is recorded over 300 times each day by these cameras and yet the same camera network failed to stop the attacks of 7/7.

In any nightmare vision of a controlled society under a totalitarian regime, security camera video surveillance has featured prominently.

It is the potential for misuse of these systems which keeps many liberty campaigners hard at work to try and rolled back or control the implementation of this technology the future.

They’re Everywhere & Monitoring Everything

With cameras on Main street, at traffic lights, at junctions, and government office buildings, in car parks, the department store are changing rooms, in retail outlets, at gas stations and ATM machines, one has to wonder aloud how long will it be before there is a move to put these cameras in paces where they were never intended to be, like our homes.

Already there is a strong move in Washington to place these cameras inside our cars to protect children and animals from being locked into the car and danger of suffocation.

These cameras would be remotely operated by government agencies and law enforcement officers on demand.

When they couple this technology with a move toward RFID tracking, it isn’t hard to see that security camera video surveillance could lead us unthinkingly into a totalitarian police state.
