America is Suffering from Fascism Ideology

The Dictatorship of Fascism Ideology Appeals to America’s Government Officials.

Fascism ideology has its origins in Italy after World War I.

It emerged as an ideology to counter socialism and democracy, but really it’s just the next logical step of both of them.

Under this form of Government, citizens live under strict control and supervision and the progress and development of the country takes precedence over the welfare of its citizens.

It is also characterized by the presence of an authoritarian single-party dictator as its ruler.

Though it originated in Europe, it has slowly spread to many countries around the world and America is no exception.

The only difference in the US is that it is practiced discreetly under the veil of democracy.

A close analysis of the laws and policies of the Government as well as the actions of the so-called elected representatives and the rich and powerful of the corporate world will reveal the face of Fascism in America.

America’s Shadow Enemies

One of the defining aspects of the fascism ideology is the creation of a fictitious common enemy that will be perceived as a threat so that the citizens live in a constant state of fear.

After the terrorist attacks in September 2001, the Government is trying to establish terrorism as a common enemy and Americans are forced to live in a state of fear.

The Government passed the US Patriots Act immediately after the attacks and started using the terms “global war” and “war on terrorism” to strengthen the fear in the minds of ordinary people.

The Fascism of Guantanamo Bay

The fascism ideology does not believe in human rights or its violations because the welfare of the state is perceived to be more important than the citizens.

So, all forms of torture, assassinations, executions, long term incarcerations and third-degree treatment are meted out to the so-called criminals.

This can be compared to the presence of Guantanamo Bay prison in America.

Many innocent men and women are captured from different parts of the world and tortured in these prisons without any regard for human rights.

The Bush administration has used all techniques and threats to run the Guantanamo Bay prison.

In fact, he threatened to veto a defense bill worth $442 billion if the Congress or any other organization conducted any inquiry into the treatment of these unfortunate prisoners.

He even refused to abide by international laws.

Fascism Out of the Closet: The Bush Legacy

Even though it existed in sporadic parts of the society, the Bush administration was primarily responsible for the wide spread practice of fascism ideology in the US today.

A noticeable characteristic of a fascist society is the prevalent of sexism and opposition to abortion and gay marriages.

Under the Bush administration, many policies were enacted to further sexism.

During his tenure, many Government workers were fired for being gay or for being involved in sex-scandals.

He advocated a constitutional ban on same-sex marriages and was heavily opposed to abortions and stem cell research.

Bush even refused to sign a proposal from the United Nations to protect the sexual rights of women.

All these incidents point to the creation of a Fascist Government in the US.
