The so-called war on terror has enabled the United States to put up many more satellites because of the need for ”intelligence.”

Satellite systems, such as Echelon, are monitoring telecommunications world-wide. From their space-based position, they can listen in on everything, and supercomputers pick out various keywords.

From there, they become people of interest and further attention can be directed toward them.

The Echelon system is controlled by the National Security Agency (NSA), and it listens in on all telecommunications. Its job is monitoring these signals.
