Are Child Adolescent Mental Health Services Helpful?

Child Adolescent Mental Health Services Should be Used, But Not Overused.

The child adolescent mental health services vary depending on the area in which you live. These services could abound in large cities, but could be virtually non-existent in small towns.

The small towns are not equipped to deal with child or adolescent mental health issues, because they are not likely to have mental health professional trained in dealing with children or adolescents.

Adult mental illness is much different than adolescent, therefore, being trained for adults would not make a person capable or effective in dealing with children and teens.

The services available to the youth in American society should be uniform across all areas of the country, not hit and miss depending on the size of the areas population.

Perhaps the mental health services should be set up as part of the department of education, so that all children have access to such services if they or their parent feels they are in need of them.

The services need to be available but not pushed, they need to be operated by ethical professionals, so that the children do not end up with unnecessary labels in their chars for the rest of their lives.

The children who are in need of these services need to be made to feel comfortable seeking it.

Medicated

Seeking

Child adolescent mental health services need to be readily available for those seeking them. They need to be set up to help people feel safe and comfortable in their use.

The children and adolescents in our country struggle with fitting in to begin with, This is a large part of their hesitancy to seek help with their mental health concerns.

The child adolescent mental health services need to be operated with the upmost ethical standards. People need to give diagnoses only when they are absolutely necessary.

If a child is suffering from a severe mental illness, there still needs to be all measures taken to keep the family unit complete. The more advanced services available need to be used sparingly.

This includes psychiatric assessment and the use of medication. The overuse of these things is not good for the children in the country. If you have ever seen an over medicated psychiatric patient, it is not a good sight.

Parenting

Child adolescent mental health services are plentiful, but should not substitute good parenting. Much of what children need is someone to talk with, to help them work through what they are going through.

The parents in the United States need to be open to their children, they need to be good listeners. Parents, if open to it, can be their child’s best counselor.

Parents can be open with children about what they went through as a child, professional counselors cannot. Parents can offer forgiveness for misdeeds, and can provide comfort for the children which professional counselors cannot.
