Directed Energy Weapon Used

A Directed Energy Weapon is Americas New Weapon to Fight Terrorism. Since the Real Terrorist is the US Govt’, These Weapons Are Meant to be Used on the American Public!

A directed energy weapon (DEW) is a technological system that uses a beam of energy, such as a laser, to destroy or damage objects or people.

This type of weapon is suitable for disabling sensors, communication systems, and electronics.

There are different types of energy weapons but they all have the same characteristics that make them particularly appealing to the United States’ military.

Several types of DEWs have already been tested by the military in battle conditions and within the next 10 years will change the way wars are fought.

DEWs won’t work in all combat environments but will give the U.S. military much more flexibility in managing different types of security threats.

Before DEWs are deployed the United States Department of Defense needs to come up with clear and concise guidelines that will be strictly followed by military personnel.

While the Pentagon is completely convinced that every type of directed energy weapon is legal to use under international laws, there are many human rights and advocacy groups that feel DEWs can and will be used inhumanely.

Even establishing protocol for the use of DEWs makes these advocacy groups concerned that they’ll be misused and bring about a whole new set of controversies.

In all likelihood the United States military won’t consider not using this new technology, which is only a sign of things to come as advocacy groups and the government once again fight over human rights and how people should be treated.

Moral and Legal Implications

Although the U.S. military maintains that DEWs are completely safe to use and have no lasting effects, there is much concern both in this country and around the world about the moral and legal implications of using any directed energy weapon.

Under laws of the Geneva Convention, weapons that cause undue suffering are forbidden and banned.

Human rights groups believe that the use of DEWs will open up an entire new set of concerns that haven’t yet been addressed with the use of other more conventional types of weapons.

For instance, what are the long-term biological effects of using DEWs? And is it possible that they might be used intentionally or accidentally on civilians?

The technology for DEWs is advancing much faster than treaties and international laws are able to make new policies.

In the United States the policy, approved by the Department of Defense, is that DEWs can be used in battle.

However, before the U.S. military can use DEWs, they need to be in agreement with international laws. At this time DEWs are not yet advanced enough to get final approval.

Threat of Dews

The research continues on multiple types of DEWs, which are essentially high-powered microwaves.

There are many questions about what effects a directed energy weapon will have on human beings.

There is some indication that these electromagnetic weapons will have some type of adverse affect on the brain.

As well as electromagnetic DEWs, acoustic weapons that use intense pulses of sound are also being perfected.

Acoustics can have an effect on the ear and this may do permanent damage to an individual’s sense of balance or it could be temporary.

At this time there are no clear statistics to establish for certain the affects of acoustics.

It’s believed that all developed countries are doing research and testing on acoustic and microwave DEWs.

The United States has been prolific in mentioning DEWs when they can, but they never disclose much information as this is still classified.

The same protocol seems to be happening in European countries. And this classification of information about weapons has many people concerned.

Classified Information

It’s difficult if not nearly impossible for groups such as the International Committee of the Red Cross and other human rights advocacy groups to do their own research and testing on DEWs if information is classified.

And this means these groups will be very reluctant to approve the use of any directed energy weapon under any circumstances.

New weapons and technology need to be carefully scrutinized to see if they are humane to use.

So until the United States government opens up and allows other organizations to research and test DEWs, it’s unlikely that we’ll see them used in war conditions for some time.

A lack of military and public policy, as well as questions about the humanitarian treatment of people makes the DEW highly controversial.

Add the shroud of secrecy the government has laid over it all and its not likely Americans will embrace this type of weapon any time soon.
