Free Speech and Censorship Cannot Coexist

Free Speech and Censorship Are Polar Opposites of One Another.

The debate over free speech and censorship holds the balance of the United States in its hands, as the U.S. was formed with the belief in freedom of speech, and without it, the basic liberties of the people will be taken away.

However, even though freedom of speech is granted, there has still been a great deal of debate over what freedom of speech means, and also there has been a debate over whether the government can restrict the freedom through censorship.

What people need to realize is the debate between free speech and censorship is fundamental to all of the rights of the United States, and thus, it is a battle that is worth fighting.

Freedom does not come easily, and when people get lax about freedom, it will be taken away before they even notice.

That is what is happening right now in the United States and people are allowing it to happen by complying with the new laws.

The government has decided where people can and cannot pray, and that is censorship.

The government has decided what can and cannot be viewed in schools and in libraries, and again, that is a form of censorship.

The government has made regulations about where free speech can be conducted, and they do that by stating they are protecting the people.

What is it they think they are protecting the people from?

Are they protecting the people from freedom?

Are they protecting people from their fundamental rights?

This type of protection does not have a place in a free society and it actually has nothing to do with protection and everything to do with control.

Free speech and censorship absolutely cannot coexist and it is time for the citizens of the country to say no to censorship and demand that their freedoms are restored.

The US is on a dangerous path, and if they continue on the path, there will no longer be freedom for any of the people of the country.

Instead, everyone will be subjected to the rules of an oppressive government.

Arrested for Speech

Turning 1st Amendment Upside Down

“There are 118 people who sit on 288 different American and international corporate boards proving a close on-going interlock between big media and corporate America.

“We found media directors who also were former Senators or Representatives in the House such as Sam Nunn (Disney) and William Cohen (Viacom).

“Board members served at the FCC such as William Kennard (New York Times) and Dennis FitzSimmons (Tribune Company) showing revolving door relationships with big media and U.S. Government officials.

“These ten big media organizations are the main source of news for most Americans.

“Their corporate ties require us to continually scrutinize the quality of their news for bias.

“Disney owns ABC so we wonder how the board of Disney reacts to negative news about their board of directors’ friends such as Halliburton or Boeing.

“We see board members with connections to Ford, Kraft, and Kimberly-Clark who employ tens of thousands of Americans.

“Is it possible that the U.S. workforce receives only the corporate news private companies want them to hear?

“Do we collectively realize that working people in the U.S. have longer hours, lower pay and fewer benefits than their foreign counterparts?

“If these companies control the media, they control the dissemination of news turning the First Amendment on its head by protecting corporate interests over people.”

– Corporate Media is Corporate America.

Censorship is Everywhere in America

Examples of censorship can be found any time anyone examines their lives, as censorship is a part of the lives of every American, but sadly people have become so used to censorship they have failed to recognize it when they see it.

When you are in the library or in a school that receives public funding, you have to deal with censorship on the internet, as certain sites are blocked so the institution can receive public funding.

You also see censorship every day in the newspapers, as the papers only tell you what the government and the elite want you to hear, and if anything is printed in the papers that the government does not agree with, they can press charges against the reporter, which means it is a rare occurrence when a reporter speaks out against the government.

Examples of censorship are found in blogs, as certain blogs that speak out against the government or talk about controversial issues are taken down by Google and other search engines in order to appease the elite.

Students are censored anytime they have a thought or opinion that goes against what the school teaches, and the students are often punished for speaking out for something that they believe in.

The radio is censored to the point that it is not even worth listening to, and soon, satellite radio will be censored as well, meaning the government will even put its hands in a medium that people pay for in order to listen to.

One of the most powerful examples of censorship are free speech areas, which are areas that are cordoned off for free speech, and if someone tries to speak freely outside of that area, they can be arrested.

The idea of free speech being restricted to an area is criminal and it should never happen, and yet it is happening all over the United States.

Censorship is alive and well in the United States and until someone does something about it, it will continue to take over, which means people need to fight back before there is nothing left to fight for.

Free Speech and Censorship Quotes

“When a critic sets himself up as an arbiter of morality, a judge of the matter and not the manner of a work, he is no longer a critic; he is a censor.”

– Edward Albee, preface, The American Dream.

“If all mankind minus one were of one opinion, mankind would be no more justified in silencing that one person than he, if he had the power, would be justified in silencing mankind.”

– John Stuart Mill.

Against Censorship

“Wherever they burn books they will also, in the end, burn human beings.”

– Heinrich Heine, 1823

“Without free speech no search for truth is possible… no discovery of truth is useful… Better a thousandfold abuse of free speech than denial of free speech.

“The abuse dies in a day, but the denial slays the life of the people, and entombs the hope of the race.”

– Charles Bradlaugh.

“When truth is no longer free, freedom is no longer real: the truths of the police are the truths of today.”

– Jacques Prevert.

“Censorship is telling a man he can’t have a steak just because a baby can’t chew it.”

– Mark Twain.

Free Speech and Censorship and Democracy

Free speech and censorship have been in debate for so long because of democracy. Democracy allows majority to rule.

That means the speech of the minority is not adequately protected as it should.

When the United States decided it wanted to be a democracy, it took away the rights of many people.

By taking away those rights, the US has become the same type of country it claims to loath. The US is just like China.

Censorship and the Government

Ask yourself who benefits from censorship. The elite and the government benefit because they are able to control what people hear about them.

That means they are able to influence the decisions of the people.

Realize that there is a reason the elite and the government do not want your voice to be heard.

They are keeping the silence for a reason, and that reason must be explored.

They do not want the truth about them to come out, as they are afraid the people will dissent.

This is the real reason for the debate over free speech and censorship that rages today in America.
