The Global Positioning GPS System or relies on a system of satellites first put into orbit around 1989.

Currently, there are over 30 satellites used for GPS at any time, but more may be involved.

These satellites were put into space by the U.S. military (Dept. of Defense) and it remains under their control.

The GPS is extremely accurate and it is now being used as a foundation to do more than just help you discover where you are or where you are going.

For a long time, the power of the Global Positioning System was restricted to military use.

Later, under President Clinton, access was given for civilian use, but civilians were handed a signal that was deliberately distorted to prevent getting the accuracy that the military has.

In the year 2000, the distorted signal was turned off and civilians are now given access to an upgraded signal.

This now allows accuracy within a few yards, whereas it was limited to accuracy within about a hundred yards previously.

Global Positioning GPS is Everywhere

GPS devices are now quite highly sophisticated and can come in many forms.

While being extremely convenient for determining where you are, GPS technology has rapidly advanced and can now allow pin-point tracking of anyone anywhere.

The GPS signals with its extremely accurate clocks enables many systems to run smoothly.

Ships, aircraft, trucks, and more constantly rely on GPS. You may even have one in your own car.

The government’s GPS.gov Web site also reveals that banks, the power grids and telecommunications depend on it, too.

Multiple governments are building their own GPS systems with which to provide accuracy to their military and for tracking their citizens.

The U.S. has NAVSTAR, Russia has its system, and now the European Union has starting putting up its own GPS satellites called Galileo.

The ability to track people through their favorite toys or devices is now becoming more popular.

New cars are required to have GPS devices in them as are cell phones.

Both of these can now be easily tracked by satellite. You can even buy a personal tracker for your car and watch where your teen takes it.

While these devices may be seen as being helpful, you must realize that it is swiftly bringing a net on us – one that will not be broken.

No matter where you go, you can be tracked. This is especially true when you realize that satellites can pick up signals from an RFID chip, implanted or in a credit card, etc!

GPS devices can be made very small – but RFID chips can now be so small that they are almost invisible.

When you realize that stores now use them everywhere for inventory and control purposes, and that RFID chips can be sewn right into clothes or put into credit cards unknown to you, you start to get the picture.

Big Brother is certainly on the way. America’s love for electronics is speeding up the process.
