The Consolidation of US Media Ownership

The Consolidation of US Media Ownership is Creating Corporate Biased News Articles; Money Controls the Truth in U.S.

Nearly everyone remembers the investigative journalism of the past like deep throat in the Nixon ear.

In those times the media was owned by separate individuals and each separate organization was trying to get the best story for ratings.

In the current times, the consolidation of US media ownership is allowing for the censorship of news articles for corporate greed.

Six major corporations or conglomerates now own all of the media outlets in the United States today. Disney, NBC, Time Warner, Viacom and CBS hold a vested interest in the quality of the news that is being published today.

The main problem with this situation is that the corporate need for good press is becoming more important that actual news that would affect the way people live their lives.

One of the main rules of corporatism is to keep you public image clean in order to sell more products.

In this sense do you really think that these corporations will let the public in on all the news that is occurring in the United States no matter what the consequence to their image?

The corporations that are running the news media will only allow stories that will paint them in a good light and are cutting the articles that have anything to do with a corporate scandal.

In fact, they are also looking out for other corporations that are associated with them.

On the Disney board of directors for example, there are members of Kraft and Ford so the interests of not only Disney but the corporate image of Kraft and Ford are laying in their hands.

Similarly, with the state of politics, if a candidate is on a platform of tax cuts for corporate America, then in turn they will get more airtime than the candidate who opposes big business over the working class.

Consolidation of US Media Ownership is creating a society where the only new that comes out and is released to the public is news that the corporations want you to hear.

This was never more evident that with Bush’s weapons of mass destruction.

When dictator bush was looking for the weapons of mass destruction of the 300 plus articles that were published none made a mention that there may not be weapons of mass destruction.

With all of the reporters around the world you can be sure that at least one story was written on the lies of Bush and none made it into the media.

Corporation of Lies

The consolidation is US media ownership is creating a situation where corporations will have the only say in what the public hears allowing them to taint the news for a positive corporate image and sway the public.

America is becoming a country where the news that is being published is tailored for an elitist society who wants the working class to have as little knowledge as possible and the government is paving their way.

The FCC’s Next Step

The next step in their plans for media domination was the FCC’s recent ruling on cross media ownership.

As the rule stood corporations were not allowed to own separate media outlets in the same general area.

For example Disney could not own a television station and radio station in the same city.

The FCC’s has lifted this ban allowing corporation to dominate in every market. This will allow the corporations to decide all news that will be released to the public.

So the next time you are watching the nightly news ask yourself, what is actually happening in society and is corporate America hiding something from you?
