The Health Insurance Scam

I gotta hand it to the diabolical geniuses that can package fear of the “what ifs” and sell it.

What I learned working in the healthcare industry was mind blowing.  To see how things operate behind the scenes led me to where I am today.  An outspoken activist AGAINST the system.  The entire system.

I catch a lot of flack for my stance on health insurance.  Due to mass social engineering it  is perceived to be neglectful and irresponsible if you do not carry a health insurance plan for your family, especially your children.

Even if you can afford it.   Hopefully by the end of this post those who think it’s irresponsible will understand where I am coming from.

I have sued people for unpaid medical bills in my career. I have worked on medical malpractice, personal injury, and insurance defense cases.

I have worked for a major health insurance company servicing the federal employee’s health plan.  I have worked on hospital lien cases, workman’s comp claims, you name it.

I am in no way, shape, or form claiming to be an expert. Nor am I giving any medical or legal advice.  Just sharing where I picked up my information from.

It’s no secret that healthcare in this country is outrageously expensive. It  is also no secret that America spends more on healthcare than any other industrialized nation on the planet.

Yet we have an incredibly ill society.  Especially the younger generations.  For the first time in history children are not expected  to outlive their parents.  This is unacceptable to me.

That Is Not a Health System, It’s a Sick Care System

It is a for profit industry and just because you have “coverage” does not mean your claims will be paid.

You are at the mercy of business executives and CEO’s who care more about their “bottom line” and shareholders than they do about you and your health.  Just like the pharmaceutical companies.

You must also remember the price of your policy depends on what risk pool you are in.  So you are being lumped in with other people who can affect YOUR costs.

The left-right paradigm being played out would like you to believe there are only two options for healthcare.

Leave it the way it is and let capitalists continue buy off politicians and control your access to drugs, therapies and devices or switch to a one payer universal healthcare system. Both are flawed.

Whether it’s a corporation or the corporation posing as your government, at the end of the day the ones at the top in charge are still the same

“America’s health care system is neither healthy, caring, nor a system.”
― Walter Cronkite

Free or affordable healthcare via a tax system always comes with more control in the hands of oligarchs who fund their puppet politicians to control society.

I don’t want the so called government involved in my healthcare. AT ALL.  Death panels set up to determine if the state will pay for your care or not ultimately chooses who lives and dies.

The same can be said with our current healthcare system.  Even with good health insurance coverage  you could still end up paying upwards of  $15,000 or more, for example, in out of pocket costs if you needed surgery (depending on your deductible, copays/coinsurance and max out of pocket for the year).  Not including your premiums.

Don’t have $15,000 to cover it?  Then in addition to your premiums you will now have a payment plan with the provider of your services.

Balances after insurance usually do not qualify for any kind of charity assistance or write offs.

So in addition to your mortgage, student loans, health insurance premiums and other monthly expenses you’ll have to add one more to the provider of your healthcare services.

“It seems quite pointless to waste health relentlessly in order to earn money that we shall spend on recovering health.”
― Eraldo Banovac

I do not know a lot of people who can swing that. It is not sustainable.  Should you get behind on your arranged payment plan with a provider and you or your spouse have a W-2 position you can be sued and have your wages garnished, house liened, bank accounts frozen, and I’ve even seen someone’s lottery winnings seized.

It doesn’t end if you die either, they can make a claim on your estate. I have personally filed claims on estates for people who died in lifeline helicopters.

It’s basically like, “Sorry we couldn’t save your life, but you still owe us $35,000 and we’re going to take money from your estate and leave your family with nothing.” The American Dream!

Medical debt will also get reported to the credit bureaus and affect your credit score.

You can file bankruptcy on medical debt but the provider to whom the debt is owed can legally decline to provide any further healthcare services to you (unless it’s an emergency room situation).

The in network providers you can see have contracts with your health insurance company.  If  a doctor wants a successful practice they are going to need to be in network with the major health insurance companies.

It’s almost impossible not to be.  Keep in mind they have massive student loan debts to pay from medical school.

So if  your doctor is in network with your insurance company and you have a claim for an office visit.  Let’s say the contractual fee for that visit that the insurance will pay the doctor is $90.

The total billed for the office visit was $135.  The insurance company will pay the $90 and the doctor writes off the balance as he’s agreed  to accept the contractual rate from your health insurance company.

If you did not have insurance and had to pay out of pocket you would have to pay the whole $135 (or make pay arrangements).

Good negotiating tactic if you do not have health insurance and need to see a provider ask if they will accept their contracted rate with insurance companies, the $90 rate (as an example) if you pay the whole $90 at once.  That’s just a side tip.

To cover my family of three would cost around $800 a month in premiums.  That’s if we took the coverage offered.  That doesn’t include copays/coinsurance/deductibles.

Why would we pay $800 a month, then pay out of pocket until we meet the deductible that’s $15-$20,000 for a family plan?

Unless there was a major emergency or an illness requiring massive surgery this policy is not going to benefit me and my family.

Purchasing it would only be for fear of the “what ifs,” and I will not let fear control my life, decisions,or finances.

Considering the fact I haven’t needed to  see any medical providers in the last 3 years, all I’d be doing is throwing money at the health insurance company.  Paying for a CEO’s sports car or massive salary.

Another reason why I believe health insurance is a scam is because they will not cover drugs/treatments not approved by the FDA and the FDA is not going to approve anything that could hurt big pharma’s profits.

The pharma giants aren’t going to allow anything that can cure disease or illness because that would eliminate repeat customers and their bottom line.

As long as the FDA is bought off by big pharma I refuse to purchase any health insurance policy.

I have taken it upon myself to learn about holistic health.  I use essential oils, herbal remedies, organic products.  What I have been able to learn on my own has saved me thousands.

Why pay $800 a month to make the rich get richer when I can spend that to educate myself on herbalism, aromatherapy, reiki, all things pharmaceutical propagandists label “pseudoscience.”

If it’s not a synthetic drug made in a lab it can’t make corporate pharma giants big bucks and they can’t patent nature.  We have a incredibly sick population while spending the most on healthcare.

It’s time for a change.  Not a change involving asking crooked politicians to pass laws or give you free healthcare from a one payer system.

“Modern allopathic medicine is the only major science stuck in the pre-Einstein era.”
― Charlotte GersonHealing the Gerson Way: Defeating Cancer and Other Chronic Diseases

It’s time for people to educate themselves and get healthy without lining the pockets of corporate pharma giants and health insurance companies.

They profit off of us and have no incentive to ever give us access to affordable and effective medicine.   We are cattle to them, make no mistake about it.

If you currently have debts hindering your finances and credit report, get a hold of DTSS, they can help and get you a fresh start.  No bankruptcy or penalties either.
